Stephen Varma is the Chief Risk Officer of PIDG and a member of the organisation’s Executive Committee. He heads the overall Risk and Compliance function for the Group and is responsible for the oversight and implementation of strategies, policies and frameworks addressing enterprise, strategic, financial (credit, market, liquidity) and operational risks. Stephen reports to the CEO Philippe Valahu and the Risk Committee of the Board.
Prior to joining PIDG, Stephen held senior risk positions with Rio Tinto Plc and various organisations across the European Rail and Infrastructure sectors. He has over 20 years of experience in emerging markets and OECD jurisdictions, delivering risk management expertise across infrastructure development, commodity trading operations, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and business transformation.
Stephen holds an Executive MBA with the University of Cambridge and a Bachelors in Engineering from Brunel University. He also Chairs the Risk and Audit Committee of a major UK Non-Profit.
