Alex Traube-Childs

Global General Counsel

Alex is an English-qualified lawyer and business integrity professional who occupies the role of Global General Counsel of PIDG and is a member of the Executive Team. With over 15 years of experience working in-house and at top-tier law firms, he heads the group legal function covering Corporate, Africa and Asia as well as Business Integrity.

Before joining PIDG, Alex was General Counsel and Head of Business Integrity at InfraCo Africa for 10 years where he gained experience working on projects across Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe in sectors ranging from renewable energy, transport (including e-mobility), water and infrastructure. Prior to that, he worked in the project finance and corporate teams at Shearman and Sterling, Fulbright and Jaworski and Norton Rose Fulbright where he advised sponsors and lenders (including DFIs) on international energy and infrastructure transactions, working across the entire lifecycle of a project, from development, financing and operations to exit.

Alex holds a first class honours degree from the University of Exeter and is an independent member of the Private Sector Engagement Committee of Transparency International UK. He is also a non-executive director on the board of East Africa Marine Transport, a PIDG-funded ferry business in East Africa.
