Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

Data.pidg.org contains all Sustainable Development Impact (SDI) data from all PIDG-supported projects.

PIDG has an active monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) Plan 2024-27, which targets:

• Learning about our impact from listening to the people our projects serve through end-user surveys 
• Generating and sharing insights from consistent monitoring of our investments and their sustainable development impact
• Demonstrating gender equality and inclusion outcomes in infrastructure
• Demonstrating positive climate (mitigation, adaptation and resilience) and nature outcomes in infrastructure\
• Independent evaluations of PIDG’s market transformation at country or sector level

One of PIDG’s core values is impact, which we define as having a strong, positive, and tangible effect on people’s lives. This can be summarised as how the customers, end-users and workers benefit from PIDG projects. Accordingly, the number of people expected to have access to new or improved infrastructure from PIDG supported projects has been a key outcome indicator that we have monitored and reported on over the years.

Promoting inclusion through its investments is core to PIDG’s mandate, and we have a high level of ambition to advance gender equality through the empowerment of women and girls. PIDG's ambition for gender equality goes beyond complying with international norms and standards.

Our projects demonstrate positive climate and nature outcomes in infrastructure. We use our data and insights to contribute towards developing new approaches and practices such as:

• Piloting the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures’ LEAP approach
• Investing in Infrastructure for Climate Resilience across Africa (with University of Exeter)

To ensure that our evaluations are unbiased and accurate, we undertake independent evaluations of PIDG’s market transformation at country or sector levels.
