About the role

PIDG exists to get infrastructure finance moving and multiplying – accelerating climate action and sustainable development where it is most urgently needed.

We develop, fund and enables sustainable infrastructure projects in low-income markets, delivering tangible, positive outcomes for People, Planet, Economies and Markets. The Group is at the forefront of integrating impact with financial considerations in investment decision making and this is a unique opportunity to learn on the job and contribute to the evolving thinking on impact investment.

PIDG’s Sustainable Impact Team has a systematic approach to assessing and monitoring impact. We manage adverse outcomes, evaluate positive impacts, and learn from our findings.

PIDG’s approach to impact is two-fold:

  • To identify, mitigate and manage HSES risks and adverse impacts, through PIDG’s HSES management system
  • To drive and demonstrate tangible, positive impact on people and planet, the wider economy and infrastructure capital markets through PIDG’s wider impact management system, striving for sustainable development.

We are looking for one candidate for a 12-week placement who will primarily conduct research and data analysis for prospective deals as part of PIDG’s Sustainable Impact review and sign off process of new investments. The role will also involve data analysis and presentations on thematic sectors and trends. This will help the PIDG Impact team assess the economic, environmental and social impact for supported projects, ensuring resources are deployed where they are most effective and needed.

You will gain firsthand experience of how an investor integrates impact in investment decision making. You will also gain experience on how gender and climate considerations are embedded into decision making for new deals.

You will be part of a small and highly motivated team working on both African and South / South east Asian opportunities. The role will involve regular engagement with the impact team different products (EAAIF, InfraCo Africa, InfraCo Asia, GuarantCo and Technical Assistance & Credit Enhancement Facilities) with colleagues based in London, Casablanca, Nairobi and Singapore.
