About the role
The PIDG project development and investment arm is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its Investment Management team. The team focuses on originating, evaluating and executing corporate growth equity and co-investment opportunities, as well as managing and monitoring portfolio companies’ post-investment.
The Investment Analyst will support opportunity sourcing, screening, due diligence, financial analysis, and partner/stakeholder engagement throughout the investment process. The role also plays a key part in preparing and advancing investment proposals through the Investment Committee (IC) approval process and supporting the oversight of ongoing investment activities.
Role and responsibilities
1. Investment Management
- (a) Origination – Originate investment opportunities through proactive market mapping, relationship-building, and identifying leads aligned with PIDG’s mandate.
- (b) Project Due Diligence – Manage and support the due diligence process, including engaging with investee companies, investment partners and shareholders; coordinating calls and negotiations; managing data room; analysing commercial, financial and operational information for potential investments; coordinating with external due diligence consultants; and synthesising findings into recommendations on commercial feasibility and project sustainability.
- (c) Financial Analysis – Build and/or review detailed financial models, perform valuation analyses (including DCF, precedent transactions and trading comparables), run scenario and sensitivity analyses, and provide an overall assessment of opportunities against PIDG’s investment criteria, key assumptions, risk analysis, budget and resourcing requirements.
- (d) Deal Structuring – Assist in structuring and negotiating investment terms, transaction documentation and financing arrangements, working closely with in-house teams and external counterparties to ensure alignment with PIDG’s requirements and support a timely financial close.
- (e) Stakeholder Management – Coordinate with other functions across PIDG to meet organizational goals, including working with Legal, Business Integrity, Finance, Operations, Development Impact, Health & Safety and Strategy and Portfolio Management teams to progress investment proposals, and to support monitoring and reporting by sharing information, documents and resources.
- (f) Risk Management – Play an active role in identifying, recording and reporting key risks and mitigation measures for investments. Keep abreast of the macro-economic conditions in relevant countries and projects, highlighting risks and opportunities to Investment Managers where relevant.
- (g) Business Intelligence – Develop and maintain market intelligence to build a detailed understanding of market landscapes and key stakeholders, and to identify key markets and areas where PIDG can add value in infrastructure investment.
- (h) Pipeline Information Management – Maintain critical information database for each investment opportunity, and act as document controller and manager.
- (i) Investment Management Support – Support the preparation of proposals for Executive Committee/ Investment Committee approval, and assist in progressing transactions to Financial Close with investment partners.
- (j) Post-Investment Support – Support the monitoring of portfolio companies and provide timely reporting to internal stakeholders on performance, risks and key developments.
2. Corporate Support
PIDG Ambassador – Act in all circumstances as an ambassador of PIDG, displaying and demonstrating the highest ethical and moral standards, while effectively managing and controlling budgets and expenditure in accordance with the PIDG policies and procedures.
Qualifications and education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Engineering, Economics, Accounting, Business or equivalent from a reputable university
A Master’s degree (MSc Finance) and or CFA certification is a plus
Skills and Experience
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on work experience in investment banking, asset management, equity research, financial consulting or a related field, preferably in Asia. Internships at buy-side or sell-side firms provide an advantage.
- Experience in infrastructure sector, working with international development institutions and/or regional experience in Asia would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of both debt and equity structures, and of market risk analysis and management relevant to financial transactions.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Highly analytical with excellent financial modelling skills.
- Ability to identify attractive investment opportunities and articulate clear recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail in handling complex datasets and financial reports.
- Strong communication & presentation skills, including the ability to write detailed investment memos and present insights to investment managers and committees.
- Highly proficient in both oral and written English.
- Strong appreciation and passion for PIDG’s mandate, with a strong work ethic and desire to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
